Service Program

We serve the state of South Carolina in partnership with Mental Health America of Greenville County.  Members serve in a variety of roles supporting the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.  Please visit https://988sc.org for more information on the services of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

About the Program

AmeriCorps Members support the efforts of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at Mental Health America of Greenville County located in Greenville, SC.  

Please see the position descriptions below for the FT and PT positions available for the upcoming 2023-2024 Service Year.  The dates of service will be August 28, 2023 through July 28, 2024. We are also offering a limited number of PT positions to serve January 2024 - July 2024.

Members receive a modest living allowance, educational award, health insurance reimbursement (FT positions only) and other personal and professional development opportunities during their service year.

Serve with Us

The GCBH AmeriCorps State Service Program offers a variety of direct service opportunities for people who are passionate about serving their community. We give our members the flexibility to choose the role that best suits their interests and time availability. As a program member, you will learn valuable professional skills and be eligible for benefits including loan deferment, an education award, and a modest living allowance. All of our members are trained by professionals at Mental Health America of Greenville County (MHAGC) before serving.

To be eligible for membership, you must:

  • Be 17 years of age or older

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent (or agree to work toward one)

  • Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States

  • Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria

Open Positions

CLOSED - Training Coordinator
(Full-Time)

Our Training Coordinator works directly with the Volunteer Coordinator to support volunteers during our lengthy training and mentoring process. The Training Coordinator will also serve directly on the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.  This is NOT a remote position.

Time requirement: 40 hrs/week

Closed - Quality Improvement Coordinator
(Full-Time)

Our Quality Improvement Coordinator reviews case forms to ensure their accuracy.  The QI Cooordinator will also serve directly on the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.  This is NOT a remote position.

Time requirement: 40 hrs/week

Closed - Resources Coordinator
(Full-Time)

Our Resource Coordinator works to help us expand and update our resource database so we may continue to provide resources throughout the state. The Resource Coordinator will also serve directly on the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.  This is NOT a remote position.

Time requirement: 40 hrs/week

Closed - Crisis Intervention Specialist (January - July 2024)
(Part-Time)

Our Crisis Intervention Specialist will work directly on the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline following an extensive training program provided by the MHAGC staff.  This is NOT a remote position.  Please apply through the application found under APPLY NOW on this website as we are currently conducting interviews for this position.

Time requirement: 10-12 hrs/week
