About the Program
AmeriCorps Members support the efforts of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at Mental Health America of Greenville County located in Greenville, SC.
Please see the position descriptions below for the FT and PT positions available for the upcoming 2023-2024 Service Year.
Members receive a modest living allowance, educational award, health insurance reimbursement (FT positions only) and other personal and professional development opportunities during their service year.

Serve with Us
The GCBH AmeriCorps State Service Program offers a variety of direct service opportunities for people who are passionate about serving their community. We give our members the flexibility to choose the role that best suits their interests and time availability. As a program member, you will learn valuable professional skills and be eligible for benefits including loan deferment, an education award, and a modest living allowance. All of our members are trained by professionals at Mental Health America of Greenville County (MHAGC) before serving.
To be eligible for membership, you must:

Be 17 years of age or older

Have a high school diploma or equivalent (or agree to work toward one)

Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States

Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria
Open - Training Coordinator
(Full-Time)
Our Training Coordinators work directly with our volunteer services to support our volunteers during our lengthy training and mentoring process. Additionally, the Training Coordinator will serve directly on the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Time requirement: 40 hrs/week
Open - Quality Improvement Coordinator
(Full-Time)
Our Quality Improvement Coordinator reviews case forms to insure their accuracy. In addition, the position will serve directly on the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Time requirement: 40 hrs/week
Open - Resources Coordinator
(Full-Time)
Our Resource Coordinator works to help us expand and update our resources database so that we may continue to provide resources throughout the state. Our Resource Coordinator will also serve directly on the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Time requirement: 40 hrs/week
Open - Crisis Intervention Specialist
(Part-Time)
Our Crisis Intervention Specialist will work directly on the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline following an extensive training program provided by the MHAGC staff.
Time requirement: 6-8 hrs/week
